Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Recently I got a sample of Rimmel London's Match Perfection Foundation in a magazine. I had been wanting to try this foundation for a while as I've heard many great things about it so I thought I would see how it lasted throughout a day.

I applied it around noon using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and did my usual make-up along with it. I then took a photo after applying it, around 4pm and then around 10:30pm when I got home from work to see how it handled itself over the course of a full day.

On application I found the foundation applied really nicely. Luckily the shade in the sample was an alright shade for me so I didn't have to over bronze or anything to try match it up to my skin. Throughout the day I found it gave a medium coverage, sat nicely on the skin and did feel nice and light.

However, come 4pm and it a bit of shine was coming through. Not a huge amount, I think I could still get away with a 'healthy glow' going on but normally I wouldv'e powdered around then to keep the shine at bay. But because I wanted to really test the foundation and see what it could do I resisted powdering and left it be.

Come 10:30pm and as you can see from the photo the foundation had pretty much disappeared and my skin was extremely oily and shiny! Now I do have very oily skin so I don't blame the foundation fully for this and I do think that maybe if I'd powdered a bit more throughout the day then it wouldv'e lasted better and of course not been so blooming shiny!

So, although I'm not going to rush out and buy this foundation, as I don't think it's for oily skin at all,  for everyone else I do think it's nice and worth checking out!

Tanya Burr Nail Polish In Duvet Day

As promised in a previous post, found here, I still have one favourite nail polish I haven't shared yet but here it is! Welcome Tanya Burr Nail Polish in Duvet Day.

In my previous post which was linked above I said how Fairy Godmother was my favourite shade. But now I've reapplied Duvet Day my mind may have changed again. I LOOOVE this shade. It's the perfect grey with a hint of green colour-reminds me a bit of a ducks eggshell...?. It would look beyond beautiful all year round and I really just can't get enough. The formula is the same as Fairy Godmother so to see my thoughts on that click the link above. Again, I use three layers to get the most out of the colour and find it lasts a good few days also without chipping!

Is there any other shades from the range I should try out?

Autumn Lips

In the same order as the picture above and listing below

 Typically when Autumn comes along make-up gets a lot deeper in colour and the bright summer shades are gone for another year. However, I love Autumn and instead of seeing it as the end of Summer I focus on the still bright and crisp days and I like my make-up to reflect this. That is why my favourite lip products this Autumn are still fairly bright and bold, but just with the Summer-edge taken off.

There are four products in particular which I know I'll be reaching for non-stop this Autumn;
  • MAC Lipstick in 'Plumful'- ah I just LOVE this shade so much! It's a very toned down pink-toned berry shade and is from the Lustre line so is beautifully creamy and comfortable on the lips.
  • L'oreal Matte Lipgloss in '407 Smoke Me Up'- a recent purchase but a major favourite one! There will be a blog post coming soon on this but let me just say it's amazing! The pigmentation, colour and lasting power is all on point!
  • Maybelline ColorDrama in '410 Fab Orange'- the most perfect orange/red lip colour I've ever worn. Everytime I wear this I get compliments and luckily it last around all day to get them! Full review on it here
  • No7 Shine & Tint in 'Seduce'- a beautiful bold pink with a stunning shine. For a full review on it you can read the post here

There will be another post to come about other Autumn make-up which I'll be reaching for in the next few months so make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss out on that one!
Also let me know which shade is your favourite from the four above.

Empties #7

I realise it's not been that long since my last 'empties' post but I've somehow managed to make my way through a good number of other products so thought I'd round them all up in this empties post! I've been trying to get better at using products up fully before going out and buy multiples of the same things so I think there's likely to be a few more empties coming up too- hope that's ok!

So here are the lastest products I've gone through;
  • Garnier Body Intensice Nourishing Lotion- I've blogged about this before, can be found here, and I've already repurchased another one!
  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- I love the micellar cleansing watr form Garnier but this was the first time I've tried the 'Combination & Sensitive Skin' one as they had sold out of the original one. Honestly, I didn't notice any difference between the two for good or bad so would definitely get this again- but only if the pink one is sold out...due to the fact it's pink!
  • Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo- Admittedly I picked this up because I liked the packaging and after discovering a different dry shampoo which was better than Batiste I am a lot more open to trying different ones. I loved this one! The scent was very fresh and it didn't leave white residue in my hair- which is a nightmare for me as I'm a dark brunette so it's shows up a lot! It gave great volume and it really did freshen up my hair on my no wash days. I've repurchased another one from the range
  • No7 Stay Perfect Primer- I'm a big fan of No7 products- a post with all the links to posts I've done on them can be found here- and this was not a disappointment. It was somewhere between Benefit Porefessional and a cream primer. Applied very evenly and felt very comfortable and moisturising on the skin. A little went a long way so I would definitely be getting this again
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer- a very popular concealer which I got on with very well. Offered great coverage with a beautiful brightening and 'waking-up' magic appearance under the eyes.
  • Boots Vitamin E Eye Cream- technically this is empty but it's a product which I cannot use up. This stung my eyes like nobodies business. It went on very thick and I found it didn't really absorb into my skin. I will definitely not be using this again as my eyes are just too sensitive so will going back to my favourite from the Body Shop- blog on that one here
  • Models Own Eyelash Curlers- again this is a bit odd for an empty as it's a tool but it broke which meant I can no longer use it. I really enjoyed using this, not only is it pink but it curls the lashes really nice so for a drugstore product I'd recommend it!
  • Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge- (sorry it looks so gross in the picture!) this was my first time trying a beauty sponge to apply my foundation with and I absolutely love it. This thing is magic. It somehow just ensures a flawless and natural finish no matter what the foundation you use. I've been using this one since the beginning of the year and although I clean it regularly I thought it was time for a new one and considering it's only £5.99 (from Boots) I shouldv'e done it a long time ago! I can't imagine using anything else in my daily make-up routine.
And that is all for now! Well done for making it through yet another rather long 'Empties' post! Has anyone else tried any of these products? Thoughts and feelings on them?

Brand Spotlight- The Body Shop

Just like my previous brand spotlight- which can be found here- I thought I would do a post with all the links to previous posts on products by the same brand.

This time the spotlight is on- The Body Shop.

I've loved The Body Shop's skincare products for a looooong time and have found things have only been improving. From the fragrances to the products themselves, they just seem to keep developing and improving while also keeping everyone's favourites available. I don't think there's one product I've used by them and not enjoyed.

So here's what I've tried and reviewed so far;
In the pictures you may see a few products which haven't been reviewed yet but I do enjoy them all and if there's any you would like a post on then just let me know!

Tanya Burr Nail Polish

I'm not the type of person who will buy a product just because a 'celebrity' has their name on it or is the face of the brand but I'm also not going to avoid the products for the same reason. So when I kept hearing great things about the new Tanya Burr range I had to check them out.

Immediately there was a couple of nail polish's which stood out and this is one of them. This is the shade 'Fairy Godmother' and I can honestly say it is my all time favourite nail polish colour which I've ever used. In the bottle is looks like a beautiful lilac shade and when I first applied it that's exactly how it seemed but in different lighting it kinda looks like a gorgeous pale sky blue. I have never liked the thought of having blue nails but this shade has changed my mind. I just LOVE it!!! Mostly because it reminds me of Cinderella....

Enough about the shade though and more about the formula! For me it's slightly too much on the wet and thin side of things which isn't a major issue but means that I do 3 layers to make sure I get the most of the perfect colour. However, once you've managed to apply it evenly- which is pretty easy with the brush- it does stick around for 3 or 4 days chip free.

All in all I love this nail polish and it is currently my favourite! I have one more shade from the range which I was going to talk about here but I think it deserves a post of it's own so keep a look out for that!

Brand Spotlight- No7

Recently I was looking through my previous posts and I noticed that there's a lot of brands which have popped up quite a few times. So I thought I would round up these posts and put them altogether for you so that you can explore and understand a brand more thoroughly and easily.

So the spotlight this time is on No7!

I've used No7 for both make-up and skincare and love them for both. The products are gentle, so work well with sensitive skin, and are also very affordable as they often do vouchers in Boots for either £3 or £5 off!

So if you fancy finding out more and any of the products just click their links below to be directed straight to their post.

Make-up
Skincare
So after writing so many posts on No7 you can kinda guess that I'm a big fan! Hope this kind of blog was helpful!?
Also please excuse some of the blogs- they are from quite a while ago- before I really knew what I was doing!!!

Empties #6

It's that time again when my 'used products' box is getting a little bit too full and so here is a list of products which I have used up within the past month;

The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub- I LOVED this! I got it in the sale- which means I love it even more!- and I'd never heard of it before so didn't have very high expectations. However, as soon as I opened the lid I was in love. The smell was just gorgeous, the texture was amazing- SO jelly like- and with the use of real raspberry seeds is was a beautifully rough scrub that left the skin feeling and smelling beyond amazing

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil- I think this is the second one I'ved used up and I'm still continuing to love and repurchase this! Full blog on it here.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream- Wow- another body shop product that's been used up! Again, I LOVED this and have blogged about it here.

This Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Tonic- This is the last Body Shop product now I promise! The lovely sales assistant recommended this to me as I have oily/combo skin and I did really enjoy using it. It had a lovely cooling sensation and didn't dry my skin out at all which I find a lot of other toners for oily skin can do

MAC Fix+ - I've used this constantly for the past few years and love using it after applying make-up. I find it helps my make-up stay in place and the general condition of my skin seems better when I use it. I'm not sure what they've put in it but my skin just seems to love it.

No7 Instant Radiance Concealer- I have this in a lighter shade than my skin tone so that I can use it as a brightener under my eyes. So I've got the shade '10' and I really did love it. Compared to the 'YSL Touche Eclat' it's extremely similar but I would say this has more coverage whereas the Touche Eclat has more of a brightening and luminous affect. This one from No7 though is a great alternative for a cheaper option!

And that's it! You've made it to the end of another long empties list! Let me know what's been you're favourite product you've used up recently!
