Drugstore Make-Up Haul

Now its been a while since I've updated my make-up collection so on a recent trip to Boots and Superdrug I couldn't resist some great offers and ended up getting a fair few items!

  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- I haven't fully finished the bottle I'm currently using however, I always like to have a back up of this so I'm never out and saw it had a third off the price in Superdrug so just had to really! Full review on it here
  • L'oreal Brow Artist Plumper- I have read so many good reviews on this and couldn't wait to get my hands on it so grab one as soon as I saw it

Collection was on 3 for 2 in Superdrug so I took the opportunity to try out a couple of new products as well as the trusted old Lasting Perfection Concealer.
  • Lasting Perfection Concealer- best. concealer. ever.
  • Eyes Uncovered Eyeshadow Palette in 'Nude Bronze'- again I'd read a few really good reviews on this and couldn't believe the price so was really looking forward to trying this. I've used it once so far and will blog a full review on it soon!
  • Deluxe Lipstick in 'Prohibition 01'- I've not fully tested this out yet but on first impression I can tell it isn't drying at all and I really like the colour. Seems quite sheer but buildable. Only time will tell how well it lasts throughout the day

These Barry M nail polishes are from the new spring line and were also on offer- 2 for £7 or £3.99 each in Superdrug. This new range is the 'Speedy Quick Dry' range and I found it did dry and set quicker and they've updated the brush to a flatter shape which makes applying even more easier. I love these!
  • 'Lap of Honour'- a beautiful soft lilac with a pinky undertone. Will be perfect for Spring!
  • 'In A Heartbeat'- a peachy pink which would look amazing with a tan

Max Factor offered a 'Coming Up Rosy' gift set free when you spent over a certain amount in Boots. This set included a lipstick, nail varnish and mascara so considering I wanted to try out one of their blushes I thought it was worth buying one other item in order to get these three for free.
  • CC Colour Collector- still yet to make my mind up on this but what I can say is that it's very yellow and bright.
  • Creme Puff Blush in '03 Gorgeous Berries'- just look at this!! Beyond pretty!! And it looks just as nice on the cheeks. Very pigmented so needs a soft hand when applying but absolutely no complaints on this one. Apparently it's also a very good dupe for the ever so popular Hourglass Blushes
  • Lipstick in 'Star Dust Pink 615'- first product from the free gift and one that's taken me by surprise. In the bullet it's a lovely colour but on my lips I'm not quite sure. Most of the time I really like it and love how easy it is to wear but other times I think that if my skin was slightly lighter or slightly darker it would suit my a whole lot better...jury isn't in yet on this one!
  • False Lash Effect Mascara- a very big wand which I struggle to use without making a very big mess around my eyes. However, this has been the best mascara I've ever used to hold my curl and it lasts all day. It was quite a struggle to take off at the end of the day!
  • Glossfinity Nail Varnish in 'Pink'ed'- definitely not a colour I would've chosen as it really doesn't suit my skin and makes my hands look ill...if that makes sense?!...but maybe with a tan I could get away with it

And that is everything I've bought recently. If there's anything you think I should do a review on then let me know! Or if you've tried anything yourself then let me know what you think!

Glossybox- February Edition

I have used Glossybox in the past for a good few times so for Christmas my sister bought me a gift of a 3 month subscription to it. For those who don't know Glossybox is a monthly beauty box subscription where you recieve 5 items and usually a couple of them are full sized products!

This months box was of course based on Valentines and I thought I'd share with you what was in it;

  • Got2b All Star 10-in-1 Styling Treatment (full size £4.07)- I've never tried got2b before so I'm excited to see what this is all about! I'm also not 100% sure what this product does but it's claiming to do a lot...10 things to be exact...
  • Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor (full size £9.99)- a bit of a strange one for Glossybox but I guess if you had a hot date for Valentines this may have come in handy. However, being a single girl it was necessary but I was still happy to see this as razor's are something that I hate spending money on, I really don't know why?!, and because I've got sensitive skin I need a good one but find them so expensive for what they are so was happy about this
  • Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in Fifty Shades (full size £14.49)- of course we couldn't talk about fifty shades being mentioned and this eyeshadow version looks beyond beautiful! Even though loose powder eyeshadows aren't my favourite, can't be bothered with the mess but I'm sure I'll get the technique one day, the colour is just so intense and lovely that I can't wait to try this one out!
  • Royal Apothic Tinties in Coral (full size $14)- this might just be the most gorgeous packaging I've ever seen for a little lipbalm. I haven't used the product much yet but the colour gives such a natural colour and just seems to bring life to the whole face. Annoyingly I've got chubby fingers and I'm already struggling to get the product out easily and it's only just opened!
  • So Susan Rose Quartet Lip & Cheek Palette (full size £8)- the product I'm least excited about. The outside cardboard packaging is appealing but the product inside feels and looks cheap and comes with a horrible lip brush which seems glued together. However, I will give it a shot with an open mind as we shouldn't judge a product by the packaging right?!

This exact box might not still be available but the great thing about Glossybox is every month there's new great products to discover. I think it's a great way to discover new brands and new products without having to waste a lot of money on duds. I still have one box due from the gift certificate so if you would like me to do another unboxing then just let me know!

Empties #3

The title really says it all so I will jump straight into the products I've recently used up. A lot of them I have reviewed previously so I will link them below. I have to say I loved all of these products and have already re-purchased a few of them.

  • Nspa Shower and Bath Gel in Passion fruit- the NICEST smelling bath products you can buy from your local drugstore or even supermarket!
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet- amazing...full review here
  • Revon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder in 030 Medium- I think this is the first time I've fully used up a powder because it really was that good! I often choose this over my MAC mineralize skinfinish powder
  • Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily Skin in 220 Natural Beige- I absolutely love this foundation and will repurchase again. Brilliant staying power and I love how you can get it to suit your skin type
  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- already repurchased...full review here

I am now currently working my way through a few Christmas goodies so there'll no doubt be another empties soon enough! What's everyone else been using up and loving recently?

Nails Inc Porchester Square Dupes

About a year ago or so I received a mini of Nails Inc nail varnish in 'Porchester Square' in one of my Glossybox's. Instantly this became my favourite nail colour of all time and I wore it constantly- as in literally every day. However, with it just being a mini version it soon started to run out which meant I had to start a manhunt for a replacement. I soon realised that it was going to be quite as easy as I had hoped.

After failing to find the right shade in Nails Inc for a wee while I took to the blogesphere to find a dupe and thanks to Vivianna Does Makeup (one of the best beauty blogs out there!) I found a dupe in Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in the colour 'Almond'. With Barry M being £3.99 compared to Nails Inc hefty £11 price tag I quickly forgot about the original and stuck to Barry M.

Again, I wore this on a very daily basis and didn't think I could find a better dupe until a No7 assistant recommended No7 Gel-Look Shine nail varnish in Porcini and I could not contain my excitement. All three of these nail varnishes are exactly the same. As in EXACTLY the same and you really can't tell the difference just by looking.

The lighting casts a shadow on the right but the colours are all the same!
The picture above shows each varnish on the nail below it and yet they all match exactly!

All in all my favourite would be the No7 version as it's mid-price range (£7), the best brush I've found and of course the colour matches Porchester Square perfectly!

3 versions of the same colour may be a bit much but when you love a colour that much sometimes it's worth finding the perfect dupe.

Each nail is a different varnish yet the match exactly!
