Clinique Chubby Stick

As mentioned before, in this recent post here, I have purchased a couple of Clinique products recently and have been trying them out for the past couple of weeks to see what I think.

The first product I'm going to review is the Chubby Contour Stick. This has replaced all my other contour products and I haven't used any other since I first picked this up and slid it along my cheek. I have used both a brush and a complexion sponge to apply it and it blended in beautifully with both. It blends in so well that after applying it I sometimes find myself wondering if I'd actually applied any make-up or if I'd sudden grown great cheek bones. It is just the perfect 'shadow' shade for me.

It is so effortless to use and gives such a long lasting, natural and all round great result that I struggle to work out what I did before it!

Beauty Sleep

Sometimes I'm a really bad sleeper. I go through phases of taking hours to fall asleep then waking up constantly throughout the night, leaving me a wreck during the day and looking like death barely warmed up.

I have managed to find a couple of things to help me get through these bad nights and has helped me get back a much better sleep pattern.

First tip would be listen to music. I think this helps me as, due to my fear of the dark, if I hear the slightest sound my mind is immediately alert and trying to work out what/where it was. I now have a playlist on my ipad which I leave on playing through and it then turns itself off once it's complete.

Second tip is to read before bed. This helps my mind to relax and also stops me from watching countless youtube/netflix videos which keeps my mind ticking and keeps me up for longer.

Third tip is to keep the bed for night time only. I now never lye in my bed unless it's at nighttime and for sleep. This helps my body recognise the fact that it's time to sleep which causes it to start to relax and shut down as soon as i lay down.

My final tip, and the reason for this post, it the ThisWorks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. I cannot stress how much this has helped me sleep better at night. I spray it on my duvet as I go to bed and immediately feel the results. The lavender scent helps the body relax, helping you doze off faster and also helps me sleep deeper. I wake up feeling so much more refreshed than when I don't use it and feel like I've had more hours sleep than I've actual had.

If anyone else has any other tips then let us know in the comments below!

Morning Skincare Routine

I work a standard 9 - 5 job with a half hour commute and refuse to wake up before 7am. This means that the amount of time I have in the morning for a skincare routine is limited. However, I do still think it's an important routine to have so I have simplified it somewhat but still include a gentle cleanse, tone and moisturise.

My previous post was my evening routine, which you can read here, and a lot of these products are in both routines so I'll just talk about the new bits in this one as it'll save me repeating myself.

  • I start off using the Micellar Cleansing Water on these Double Faced Oval Pads. These are from Boots and are my absolute favourite. I never thought much about cotton pads until I tried these and have never used anything else since.
  • Next, still using those pads, I will tone using the No7 Gentle Toner
  • A newer addition to my skincare routine is a serum. So next I would use The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum
  • This then preps my skin ready for my moisturiser, which is current Simple Light Moisturiser. I really like this moisturiser and have used it on/off for the past few years. It's very gentle on the skin and doesn't cause any irritation. It also soaks into the skin quickly and sits really nicely under make-up
  • Last but not least I like to use an eye cream. I have started using this one by L'oreal which is their Skin Perfection Eye Cream. I'm still not too sure how I feel about this so a review may be coming soon!

And all that gets done in a quick 3 minutes, which allows me longer to apply my make-up and try make myself look awake/alive!

Anyone else got a quick fix for the morning when you're rushing out the door?

Evening Skincare Routine

I have been using a few of the same evening skincare products for quite a while now and have found my skin in the best condition it's been in for ages! So, I therefore thought I would share what I've been using as I don't think I've done an evening skincare routine before.

In order of use;
  • The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil
  • Garnier Micellar Water
  • No7 Soft & Soother Gentle Cleanser
  • No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Toner
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum
  • The Body Shop Vitamine E Night Oil
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream

I use these products every night without fail and have found that the combination has really helped boost the moisture levels in my skin. I have never suffered from dry skin, if anything I usually get quite oily but I think that was due to lack of moisture so by using gentle products, a serum and an oil my skin has been given such a boost and cleared up so much!

What evening skincare product could your skin not live without?
