I have to admit, New Look has one of the best sales just now that I've seen in a while. Often with sales it's all the ugly items left or never in my size so I was very pleasantly surprised when I had a quick look at New Look's sale.

There was a great range of items in the sale and for great discounts. They also such a good variety of sizes so I managed to pick up a few pieces and thought I would share them with you.

Autumn OOTD

Recently I was on a wee holiday with my sister in Oban. I took her for her birthday and part of her present was a trip to the Sealife Centre. It was quite a chilly day and I knew we'd be walking around for a while so I wanted to be extremely comfortable and cosy. So I threw on this simple and very Autumnal outfit. (You'll have to excuse the hair- the place we were staying didn't have a shower and I couldn't be bothered using the old jug-in-a-bath technique!)

Cardigan- New Look
Playsuit- Boohoo
Tights- Tesco
Ankle Boots- Primark

White Summer's Dress

Ok, I know it's not Summer anymore...and I'm not in denial about that...but now is the time when a lot of Summer clothes go in the sale and call me crazy but if I see something I like I will buy it and save it for the following year.

This happened recently on a food shop in Sainsburys. Yup...a supermarket! I saw this dress and it was just too cute and too cheap (£6.60!!) not to pick up. It's the perfect Summers dress. Although white is never a colour of clothing I would normally purchase- I will just get it dirty after all- I loved the sailer theme of this and it just reminded me of the beach so much that I couldn't resist.

All the detailing is beautiful and I love the shape the netting underneath gives, just making it so flattering. I can't wait until I can wear it out next Summer already!

Does anyone else buy this far in advance? Hopefully I'm not the only one!

Cotton On Monochrome Playsuit

Throughout my year in Australia I found Cotton On was one of my favourite clothing shops and was my go to for cosy jumpers and joggers. As well as the comfy clothes it was also great for every day clothes and my favourite find was definitely this black and white playsuit.

I find the style of the playsuit really suits my body shape and is very flattering- which I often have difficulty in finding. I team this with black tights for warmth- as I'm no longer in Australia- my grey ankle boots from ASOS and I'll often just throw on whatever jumper/cardigan/blazer is lying about. The playsuit itself is SO comfortable to wear and perfect for daytime. It can easily be dressed up for evening with the simple addition of heels and a clutch. A perfect piece for Autumn/Winter!

Lazy Day Make-Up and Outfit

We all have those days where we are just in a bit of a lazy mood and therefore the thought of doing a full make-up routine and outfit styling makes us want to hide under the duvet and stay in bed all day. But, on days where I feel like this and I still have errands to run I keep things basic and go on the bare minimum.

I keep my make-up to light and fresh on my skin and use only enough to make me look awake/human.
The products I use are (in order of application);
  • No7 Stay Perfect Primer
  • Benefit Big Easy BB Cream- blog post here
  • Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser
  • Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder
  • Benefit Busher in 'Dandelion'
  • L'oreal Brow Artist Plumper
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof
  • Mac Eye Kohl in 'Teddy'
  • Revlon Lip Butter in '035 Candy Apple'

When it comes to a lazy day outfit then I'm definitely a jeans and t-shirt/vest top kind of girl. The comfier I am the better when I'm running around instead of being on the sofa watching Disney movies. And when it comes to hair it'll either be thrown up in a messy top-knot or just left down wild and free.

My outfit;
  • T-shirt- Primark
  • Jeans- Topshop
  • Shoes- Sainsburys (yeah you read that right!! A supermarket!)

'What's In My Bag' Tag

I think this is my first ever 'Tag' blog and it's one which I've been extremely excited to write ever since I got my new Zara handbag. I've got a feeling this may be a fairly long one today so grab a cup of tea and get ready for delve into my portable world.

So without further a-do here's a list of what I carry around each and every day and which I can't leave the house without.

  • Purse- obviously essential
  • Camera- never missing a kodak moment
  • Portable phone charger- tiny blue tube which allows my to charge my iphone which we all know it needs it
  • Tissues- sometimes I believe I'm allergic to the outdoors as my nose is forever running when I'm out!
  • Kleenex blotting paper- for all my oily moments
  • Chewing gum- always comes in handy
  • Tartan and koala purse- to keep little bits and bobs from getting lost
  • Sunglasses- always a must when in Australia
  • Hand sanitizer- keeping all the bad bacteria at bay
  • Lipgloss- mini benefit number for touch ups
  • Lipbalm- Babylips one to stop the dry lips coming out to play

I got this koala purse for my birthday this year from my sister and I think it's the cutest thing ever! It's from New Look and is perfect for my time in Australia. Inside it I keep Rennies, paracetamol, kirby grips (bobby pins), spare hair bobbles (always seem to lose them) and an iphone cable for the portable charger.

I also got this tartan purse sent over from home but at Christmas time and love the Scottish feel of it to remind me of home. I use this as a mini make-up bag as it's big enough to carry a powder, concealer, eye liner and a little foundation.

My mint green purse is from Kmart (Australia) and I absolutely love it. It's big enough to easily fit in all my cards and cash but also big enough to squeeze in a couple of extras. Again I have another hair bobble, a slim notebook, a tiny pen, a re-useable to-do list and a mini pack of sticky notes. As you can tell I like to be prepared.

The bag itself is from Zara and is the Mini Office City Handbag and was £29. I fell so in love with it that I bought it, got it sent to my sister then gave her the money to send it over to me. I clearly just had to have it. It's bigger sister (the City Tote) was on my want list as it's basically a bigger version which is equally as beautiful but it sold out before I managed to make it to the shops so I snapped this one up as soon as I saw it. It's a beautiful deep navy colour and has 3 sections. The section in the middle is padded so perfect for ipads/kindles/any electronic or with a screen. Another one of the sections contains a pouch for your phone and card slots which are useful to pop in train tickets so you don't lose them and can easy find them.

As you can tell I like to be prepared for any situation and only get worse when I use a bigger bag.
What can't you leave the house without in your bag?

Flight Outfit

So as mentioned in many a previous post I recently endure a few long haul flights. So, as well as making sure I had all my flight essentials I also had to make sure I was dressed appropriately. Often on flights you will see woman who look amazing and glamorous and better than I would on a night out but I do not understand how they can be comfortable on the flight!?
I am the complete opposite of this. I will usually go bare faced and in the comfiest/baggiest clothes I own- especially on such a long flight!

This was the outfit I went for- baggy sweater, leggings, vest top and trainers (I actually wore my running shoes as they were too big to pack!)
As well as having no make-up on I had all my hair up in a bun and out of the way. For me this is comfy and although it's not the most flattering I was too busy trying to sleep and not freak out over flying to try impress anyone.

Leaving Ceilidh Outfit

As some of you may know I am off on a big adventure at the end of this month. Myself and two friends have decided to move to Australia for a year!! We're all extremely excited about it but we're also very aware of how much we are going to miss our friends and families. So, as a nice way to say goodbye, and in a truely Scottish fashion, we are going to be hosting a ceilidh as a way to say goodbye to those who we'll miss.

While I was recently helping my mother with the food shop in ASDA we were having a wee gander in the clothing section (as per usual). We came across this dress and thought it would be perfect for the ceilidh. We also thought it would be great to take to Australia with me to show how us Scots like to do it.

My size wasn't in stock so I had to get a size up which means it does require a belt round the waist but other than that it fits fine and since it was only £16 I really don't mind. For make-up I think I will try go for a purple smokey look with a hint of pink at the inner corners. I quickly tried it out (shown below) to see how it looks with the dress and I really enjoyed it so for the actual night I think I will stick with this make-up but add some false lashes. I also think I'll go for a lighter lip colour so my eyes are the main focus point. Less is sometimes more after all!

I also can't decide whether to wear my hair down (shown in photo's at the top) or in a side fish-tail plait!? Please help!!

Maxi Skirts Outfit Idea's

Summer is here but in Scotland we know that that doesn't always mean hot sunny days with just a gentle breeze. Our summer consists of a lot of guess-work. Whether it'll get sunny later on, if the rain will stay off, whether the wind is strong enough to blow up a skirt...the list goes on.

So, a perfect solution to those days where there's just no knowing how the weather's going to go is a maxi skirt. I've always worried that because I'm short and round that a maxi skirt with emphasize this but I have to say I've become quite fond of them and even decided to brave a midi-skirt.

These outfits are ideal for days where you may not want the flash the flesh but still want to look summery and feel cool and comfortable.

Maxi Skirts- Boohoo
Mint Vest Top- Boohoo
Striped Midi-Skirt- Primark
Denim Shirt- (too old to remember- sorry!)
Leopard Print T-shirt- H&M
