Current Favourites

So, as the title suggests this blog is all about a variety of items which have been recent favourites of mine. This is the first 'Favourites' post I'm doing so if it's rubbish please bare with me, I'll hopefully get better in time! I also thought I'd do a range of items including make-up, beauty products and sweets (every girls 3 favourites things right!? Well...if we ignore boys and chocolate but they go without saying).

Pastel Coloured Nail Polish- These are featured here for the colours, not for the brand themselves. With it being Spring the sun is starting to peep out every now and then and I just feel these colours are amazing at giving the summer feeling to any outfit. I've also done a post on my favourite nail polishes at the moment which you can read about by clicking here.

Burts Bee's Lip Balm- Such a moisturising lip balm which I can't get enough of. It has got beeswax in it which I thought was weird at the beginning but then I realised that is what makes it so nice and it really helped repair my lips after a few very windy/snowy months. When I picked this up I thought it was the tinted one but turns out it's a clear balm. I really want to try the tinted one though as an item which nourishes AND gives a nice colour is always a keeper!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss- I have this in the shade 'Pink Pop/Rose Radieux' (why two names?!) and I love this! Not only is the colour the cutest pink (and matches my phone case) but the gloss itself isn't sticky in the slightest and just seems to glide on so beautifully! I instgramed a picture of the gloss on and you can have a cheeky look by clicking this.

Bath & Body Works Anti-bacterial Hand Gel- I have been wanting one of these for SO long. I follow a few American youtubers and they all seem to talk about these in their hauls/favourites etc. I must have talked about them more than I realised as my mate recently went to America and brought me back the 'Fresh Picked Strawberries' one without me even having to hint/ask for it! It is so beautifully scented that being hygienic has never been more enjoyable. I liked it so much that I searched on ebay for some more and found the 'Midnight Pomegranate' one for just a few pounds and couldn't resist.

Argan Oil- I love what argan oil does for my hair. I apply it even time I wash my hair (every second day) and I find that it makes my hair feel amazing afterwards. My sister uses the Lee Stafford one which is the best I've used but to save myself a few pounds I got this one and it does a nice job. I also found that applying this consistently really helped my hair get back to a good condition after this Winter really damaged it.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti Chip Top Coat- I am one of those people who loves painting their nails and love how they look but is never patient enough to sit and let them dry properly. This means that often I won't bother or I spend ages re-doing the nails which have smudged. I had heard good reviews on the Sally Hansen nail range and since Boots are now stocking them I thought I'd give it a go. I didn't really believe that by adding another layer of varnish it would make them dry faster but it definitely does! My nails will soon forget their natural colour.

Tic Tac Strawberry Fields- They're pink, full of sugar and leave your mouth refreshed...need I say anymore!? I literally love these and have about 3 packs- one on my desk, one in my car and one in my bag, so I never have to go without. Admittedly I first bought them because they were pink but then I discovered how nice they taste. A lovely strawberry taste which still leaves the fresh and slightly minty taste in your mouth like a normal tic tac! I feel I'm not describing them as good as I should so you'll all just have to go buy some and see for yourselves!!!

So that seems like I've written a mini novel so well done for making it this far. If you guys enjoyed my favourites and think I should do them more often then please let me know!

What's been your favourites this month?

Favourite Nail Varnishes

Recently I have been really enjoying painting my nails on a more regular basis so I thought I would do a quick show and tell of four of my current favourites. Each is a completely different look so there'll be one suitable for any occasion.

The four that I have chosen are by Barry M, e.l.f and Essie.

 e.l.f- 'Mint Cream'  (£2.50)
This I don't even remember buying so I may have received it as a free gift but I am so glad I did. Normally I don't really wear bright colours on my nails but I just can't get enough of the colour mint at the moment. It's such a nice Spring colour so I chose this for Easter weekend. The formula of elf nail varnish's aren't my favourite (could be an old formula as it is an old varnish), can take up to 3 layers for a nice cover and the brush isn't the best quality which means the varnish isn't distributed evenly but for the price, you can't really complain! I bought tons of these when I was just getting into nail varnish's  and still use them but I'm not sure I would choose to buy them again in future. However, if you were looking to add a lot of new colours to your collection and didn't want to spend a fortune then I would say to give these ago!

(please excuse the cut on my finger!)
Essie- 'Buy Me A Cameo'   (£7.99)
I LOVE this varnish. Everything about it pleases me. The colour is beautiful, formula lovely (1 layer can be enough but I often go for 2), it doesn't chip easily and the brush is brilliant! When I first bought it I thought it looked like a rose gold colour and in certain light that is how it looks but in other light it looks like a creamy, bronzey, coffee-y colour (bet that cleared it up for you!). It leaves a metallic finish and I think will look amazing in Summer. The brush is a wider, flatter brush than usual nail varnish brushes but I love this as it fits better with the width of the nail, so literally one stroke and your done, and it helps the product go on evenly and leave a lovely finish.

Barry M- 'Pink Silver Glitter'    (£2.99)
If I was a nail varnish, this is the one I would be. It's the prettiest pink colour and so sparkly and girly! I wore this around Christmas for all (a whole 3?!) Christmas parties I was at as it always added that extra little sparkle to the outfit. To get a good covering you do need about 3 layers but this does help it last a fairly long time. The only down side I would say is that it's so stubborn to get off. I've discovered the best way is to use one of the nail varnish remover pots. It's just so pretty!

Barry M- 'Magnetic Burgundy'   (£4.99)
Another Barry M beauty and this is one of their magnetic varnishes. This amazed me when I first got it, I just didn't understand how it worked and I still don't but all I know is that it look brilliant. Often when I'm wearing this varnish I get asked where I got my nails done and when I say it was me they're always so impressed and want to try it. First you apply one layer and let it dry, then you apply a second layer and while it's still wet you hover the magnet (slying concealed in the lid) over the nail for about 5-8 seconds and then just like magic, you have a beautiful pattern finish. So easy, simple and cheap and yet it looks amaze!

OOTD- Countryside Walk

A few weeks ago my mother was kind enough to buy me a new jacket. She surprised me with this Marks & Spencers number and I love it. The thought she had was it would be a nice jacket for Spring but seeing as Britain has decided to keep the Winter weather going for a wee bit longer I haven't actually been able to wear it, which saddens me. So to cheer myself up a bit I decided to do a blog on the jacket instead featuring an outfit idea which I based around the jacket.

After I had built the outfit up I realised how much I looked like a farmers daughter so thought it would be an ideal outfit for any countryside visits, hense the wellie and extra long socks for added warmth.

The jacket itself is from the 'Indigo collection' and was half price in the sale- bonus! It's lightly padded with quilted detailing and a wet/wax look finish. It also features elbow patches which I am loving far too much right now- who doesn't love a good elbow patch!?

Jacket- Marks & Spencers
Vest top- River Island
Checked Shirt- Jack Wills
Jeans- Sisters old ones
Socks- Primark
Wellies- Primark
Boots- AMZ
