Clinique Haul

I'm not actually sure if I can call it a haul when there's only two products but I'm going to anyway. I popped into Boots today to get a sample of some Estee Lauder foundation and somehow found my way over to the Clinique counter and walked away with a couple of items.

I had originally gone over to the counter to look at the new Clinique Sweet Pots which is a sugar scrub and lip balm together in the cutest macaroon inspired packaging and I just couldn't leave without one. My eye also spotted the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour and remembered reading great things about it. Both these items I bought using my Boots points so I felt no guilt in buying a couple of treats.

I'll no doubt be reporting back soon with reviews on both of these but let me know if you've tried them and what you think!

Benefit Fine One One

This Winter was really the time when I realised my love for cream blushers. It gives such a fresh and natural glow while staying in place all day and not drying up on the skin.

Of all the cream blushes I've used this has to be one of my favourites. Introducing Fine One One by Benefit. This is one amazing product- it gives such a glow to the skin and brings life back to my face. It's so subtle yet makes such a difference. As you can see from the pictures it's made up of 3 different shades which helps to give a slight highlight/contour effect which makes it ideal for travelling with.

Straight from the bullet

Blended in slightly

The packaging, as with all Benefit products, is beyond beautiful. I absolutely love the rose gold casing and the shape of it all makes it extremely easy to use. Simple click the product up, swipe on your cheeks and blend in (in an upwards motion) and voilĂ ...you look like you've had a full nights sleep and are ready to take on the world!!!...well maybe that's a bit dramatic but you look a lot more awake and alive.

Make-Up Haul #4

It's been a while since I've had to top up my make-up stash but as you will see from my latest empties post, found here, I've actually managed to use up a few products so felt I needed to get some replacements...and of course got a few extras as well!

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil- this is a replacement as I've just finished my old one and can't go without now!

Maybelline Falsies Waterproof Mascara- again this is to replace one I've used up as it is my favourite mascara and one I always like to come back to

Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara- Revlon has just re-launched all their mascaras so of course I was pulled in by the hype and just had to pick one up. I love the packaging and kinda wish I'd picked up the pink one too. There'll be a blog post on this at some point no doubt

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Foundation- I've never tried a foundation from The Body Shop but love their skin products so when I saw this in the sale I thought it'd be worth a shot

Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Face Wipes- I don't use face wipes on a daily basis but like to have a small pack ready for any traveling moments and I'm away for the night next weekend so made sure to pick this up

Soap & Glory Flake Away Exfoliator- I've used this for years now and find it's amazing on my legs after I've shaved. It's does exactly what it says on the tin and gets all those flakes away

Clear Elastic Hair Bands- I wear these at night as my hair is so short that I have to tie it up in two halves so don't have enough hair to fill a normal hair bobble!

And that was all I picked up, anyone tried the new Revlon mascaras yet? Or if there's any products you'd like a review on just let me know.

Make-up Emtpies

It's quite a rare thing for me to completely finish a make-up product as I'm constantly trying new ones out that some often get forgotten about but I've managed to make my way through 4 products which I thought I would share my opinion on.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW15
I had such an on-off relationship with this foundation. When it was good, it was the best. But when it was bad...you don't even wanna know! On the whole I did love this foundation. It stayed put on my skin and gave great coverage. However, sometimes it just wouldn't sit nicely on my skin and I think it was when my skin was going through a slightly dry-spell so this is maybe one just for us oily gals. Another thing that annoyed me was when I got colour matched I was living in Australia and had a tan which I didn't realise so as soon as I got home to Scotland it quickly became to dark for me...but mixed easily well with lighter foundations which meant I could continue to work my way through it.

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer
The name of this weirds me out slightly but I did like the product. Gives a very velvety feel to the skin and seemed to even things out before applying make-up. Reminded me quite a bit of the feel of Benefit Porefessional so would definitely recommend this one for those on a budget. Lasted ages as well as you only need a tiny amount!

Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara
I love this mascara!! It is my current favourite and the one I always come back to when I want a fail proof mascara. I like seperated, blackened and fluttery lashes with a slight curl and that's exactly what this mascara gives!!

Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder
I again really enjoyed this powder and have already repurchased it. Gives a light coverage, keeps make-up in place, controls oil and doesn't make the face look 'cakey'. What more could you want!?

So all in all it's two favourites and two alright-and-I'll-probably-buy-again!

Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter

I read a lot of beauty blogs and watch a lot of beauty YouTube videos and I kept hearing people mention how much they wanted this highlighter and how great it was. So, over Christmas I caught sight of it reduced and I just couldn't help myself.

I wasn't a major highlight lover before this but now it's in the daily make-up routine. Having oily skin means I use a lot of mattifying products, which is great to control oil but gives my face such a flat and lifeless appearance, meaning a highlighter is a must.

This one, by The Balm, is incredible. It is serious stuff. It will stick around all day right where you applied it and gives your face such a beautiful glow. It can be quite intense as it is extremely pigmented so if you overload on it then you can gain a slight 'twilight-vampire-in-the-sun' glittery appearance which is never great. But used with a gentle hand and sparingly and you will nail the most beautiful golden glow.

The packaging is the typical TheBalm style and hosts a brilliant sized mirror inside. When I first opened it I literally gasped at how beautiful it looked! Another great thing about it is that Superdrug has just started selling TheBalm products so it's now SO much easier for us British people to get our hands on it!

It's £17.49 but will last you such a long time as you only need to apply so little so is worth the splurge. Anyone got any other TheBalm recommendations?

Empties #10

It's been such a long time since my last empties post that I've got quite the collection to share, however, a lot of which are regulars to this neck of the woods so I'll keep it short by just linking previous posts on it.

  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- post can be found here
  • The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil- possibly the 4th one I've gone through now and yet I keep buying more! Love it, removes make-up so effortlessly and leaves skin feeling clean, refreshed and moisturised
  • Tesco Softening Body Lotion- post can be found here
  • Percy & Reed Heat Protecting Mist- it's hard to tell how great these are but I liked it. A nice fine mist, didn't leave my hair weighed down by product and kept my hair in good condition
  • No7 Cleansing Lotion- I've been using this on and off for the past 5 or so years and my skin still enjoys it. Soft and gentle and helps clean any make-up off my face and leave it soft and soothed
  • Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo- mentioned in this post
  • The Body Shop Vitamin Eye Cream- post can be found here
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum- the fact I've got 2 empty not only shows how much I love this product but also how long it's been since I've done an empties post! Post on this can be found here
  • Simple Facial Toner- mentioned in this post
  • Garnier Body Repair Anti-Dryness Restoring Lotion- loved this lotion. Really helped keep my skin moisturised during Winter and I believe helped firm my skin. Absorbed quickly into my skin and I just really enjoyed using it

And we've made it to the end!! Well...almost! I have a few make-up products which I've finished using but I think I'll keep that to another post so I can go into more detail with them!

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner

My favourite lip look on me is a matte one. Although I do enjoy the odd gloss during Summer I tend to prefer the long lasting and less stickiness feel of a matte lipstick. With matte lips being my go to I have no idea how I've managed to go all my make-up wearing years without wearing just a lipliner on my lips. It was after watching many of Lucy & Lydia's youtubes and hearing them mention quite often how amazing the Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner in '063 Eastend Snob' that made me want to try it. And my goodness am I glad that I did.

First, let's talk formula. It is a very soft crayon which just glides onto the lips effortlessly. The tip is on a slant which makes application just that much more easy. It sets fairly quickly and once it has it will not budge for a looong time...I'm talking through food and drink, this bad boy will stick around!

Now let's talk about the shade. The pigmentation is brilliant and is easily build-able to create even more colour. The shade is just perfect. It's a beautiful neutral pink colour which is kinda your lips but better shade. On Lucy and Lydia the shade looks completely different which just shows how adaptable the liner is.

The girls recommend buying two at a time and I couldn't agree more...I will be making sure I never run out of this liner as it's definately my easy go-to lip colour.

They can be found (when they're not sold out!) at Rimmel stands, Boots and Superdrug and are £3.99 (Boots).

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

For the past month or so I gave been on the hunt for a red lip...not just any red lip but a kind of maroon/deep berry lip colour. I hadn't seen one anywhere but had a shade in my mind that I just wanted. After a few trips to a few different Boots/Superdrug I finally found the shade I'd been looking for.

It comes from Revlon and is one of their Colorburst Matte Balm Crayons which I've mentioned my love for before, so I knew it'd be good.

The shade is '225 Sultry Sulfureuse' and I just love it, it was exactly the shade I was after. A perfect day lip which adds such a nice colour without being too bold. Like the other shades in the line it is very comfortable to wear and lasts really well on the lips. It only really needs topped if you've not been too careful while eating but can often last through a meal!

I am very happy I found this shade and it has reminded me of my love for lip crayons as they're just so easy to use! I would definitely recommend them to newbies to who want to start wearing more colour on their lips.

Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Powder

Recently I posted about a new primer from Soap & Glory which is brilliant for oily skin types- you can find that post here- and I have also been trying out another product from the same range. Introducing...One Heck Of A Blot Powder.

Just like the primer this is powerful stuff and does't mess about. It is a translucent mattifying powder and mattify it does! You can pack this on and it refuses to look cakey on your skin. It works all day to keep oil at bay while still giving you skin a natural appearance...just a less shiney one! I will be making sure to keep one spare for Summer as once more people try it out it will soon be very hard to come by I imagine.

The packaging ties in with the rest of the quirky Soap & Glory packaging and hosts a very decent sized mirror inside.

I have been using this now for a couple of months and still don't have a bad word to say about it! Anyone else given this a go?
