Lottie London Solid Brush Cleanser

Since I've learnt about the benefits of cleaning my make-up brushes regularly I've been intrigued by all the different types of cleansers. I did a post a few years ago now about a very affordable method which I'd discovered, which you can read here, and have since tried a couple of different products until I settled with Real Techniques Brush Cleanser which I love.

However, if you follow me on instagram (linked below) then you will have seen I recently picked up a new form of cleanser- the solid soap bar. The one I got is from Lottie London and is the first product I've used from them. I have just used it for the first time and loved it so much that I just had to come write about it straight away.

This is the easiest and quickest way I've ever cleaned my brushes. Swirling wet brushes on the bar while it's in it's container and then simply rinsing the brushes through afterwards takes mere seconds. Not only was it quick and easy but it also cleaned them SO thoroughly. I had one brush in particular that hasn't returned to it's white bristled state for quite some time until this evening! Both the MAC brush cleanser and the Real Techniques one which I mentioned earlier were unable to do so so I was amazed at how effortlessly this soap bar did it.

I picked this one up in my recent ASOS order and will make sure I do so again as I can't imagine cleaning my brushes any other way! If you've tried a bar cleanser let me know how you got on and if you loved it as much as I did.

Dry Lip Saviours

I constantly suffer from dry lips. Thanks to a nasty habit of picking my lips when I'm nervous it has resulted in an on going need to buff away the dry skin and find the best lip balms I can. In general, my lips have improved so much recently and I think I've got a few products to thank for it.

I have got into a good habit of applying Lucas' Papaw Ointment on my lips every night. This stuff means serious business and is similar in texture to vaseline but seems to work so much better on the lips. During the day I throw the trusted EOS balm in my bag to keep me topped up. I love this stuff and although it isn't the cheapest balm out there it is definitely worth the extra couple of pounds!

When my lips get really bad I have found nothing more useful than a good lip scrub. Both the Lip Exfoliator by E.L.F and Santa's Sugar Scrub by Lush do the job perfectly. They are both sugar based so taste amazing but work so well to remove the dead skin (gross!)

Combining both a scrub and effective balm have really helped to bring my lips back to life and survive the Winter. Since we're due more "Winter weather" here in Scotland I would highly recommend you invest in both to stop the dry lips returning!

Glossybox Vs Birchbox - January

Once again at the beginning of this month I received both my Birchbox and Glossybox beauty boxes and as ever, I can't help but compare the two. Both boxes contain products I'm more excited about than others...

Birchbox
  • Lord & Berry Conceal-It Crayon (full size) - RRP £12
  • Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse - RRP £17
  • Merci Handy Hand Cream in Cherry (full size) - RRP £4.90
  • Monu Professional Skincare Rosewood Reviving Mist - RRP £19.95
  • Whish Shave Cream Shaving Cream in Acai Grapefruit - RRP £14.80

Glossybox
  • Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser - RRP £19.95
  • TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Single Eyeshadow (full size) - RRP £34 for palette
  • Unani Illuminate Milk Cleanser (full size) - RRP £14
  • Vitamasques Manuka Honey Face Mask (full size) - £3.99
  • Hairon Zero Crease Hair Tie (full size) - £3.99
From Birchbox I am most looking forward to using the concealer and Nuxe oil. The hand cream smells AMAZING but I'm definitely not that bothered about the shaving cream.

Glossybox offered hair ties which I already have (but are great so I would be excited about these if I didn't already have them) and a tiny eyeshadow which is so small but in a beautiful purple shade. I think I'm most looking forward to trying the Nip + Fab moisturiser as I know is kale is great for your body but have never heard of it in a beauty product, will be interesting to see how it works out!

This month I can't pick a favourite between the two. Both have brands I've never heard of and brands I'm very excited to try out so it's really too hard to decide between the two.

I have done posts on previous boxes if you would like to read them here, here, here and here. I've also done a couple of unboxing videos which you can watch here and here

Let me know if you've received your Glossybox or Birchbox and what your favourite product was!

How To Get Free Samples

Nothing annoys me more than 'Clickbait' blog titles so I would never use one. Some of you may think that I have on this occasion but trust me, this is legit!

I recently read a blog post (which annoyingly I can't link as I read so many that I absolutely can't remember which one it was!) which was telling us about a new service from Feel Unique called Pick 'n' Mix. This is where once a month you have the opportunity to pick up to 5 samples from an amazing range of brands such as Keihls, Nars, Bioderma, Burt's Bees, Caudalie and so many more. The samples themselves are free and the only cost is £3.95 for postage and packing. However, once you've made your order of samples you will then receive a voucher for £3.95 of postage and packaging to use on a future order...making the whole thing 100% free!!

It's sounds too good to be true and it almost is! Above are the items that I decided to go for which are all products which I've really wanted to try but are all quite costly so I've never risked it incase I don't like them. Now I'm finally getting to try them out without spending a small fortune and I couldn't wait to tell you about it!

If you want to select your own 5 samples then head over to Feel Unique and head over to the sample section.

Empties #15

As you can see from the title, I've done quite a few of these empties post so to stop myself from talking about the same moisturiser for the 7th time this post will only include new products which I've used up. There's still quite a few of these so let's get started...
Super Facialist by Una Brennan - Vitamin C Brighten Glow Boost Skin Serum
What a mouthful that is but what a great product. I loved using this and always looked forward to applying it. Mostly because of the amazing orange scent which was so fresh and awakening but also because it applied so nicely and felt amazing on the skin. This really helped to waken my skin up in the morning and make it look alive.
L'Oreal - Pure Clay Purity Mask
This is one of two masks which I have from the range and I really enjoy using them. I especially enjoy using different mask in different areas of the face and thanks to this range being so affordable it's easier than ever to do.
BareMinerals - Complexion Rescus Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream
I'm planning on writing a full review on this in a post soon to come as I feel there's not enough space to talk about how much I love this! This makes my skin look glowing, smooth and so healthy. It's a light coverage which you can build to medium and I literally just don't have a bad word to say about it. This is my go to and I don't know how I would apply my make-up without it.
Lee Stafford - Hair Growth Scalp Serum
I was amazed by this product. After just a couple of weeks using it my colleague was saying how much longer my hair seemed and so quickly! I couldn't believe the results as I often think products like this don't actually do anything but I can assure you that this one did. It was so easy and effortless to use and really did have great results.
Lush - Snow Fairy Shower Gel
Ahh....my favourite product from Lush. I cannot get enough of this scent and stock up on it every Winter as I need enough to get through the whole year. This just smells SO GOOOOOD!
The Body Shop - Drops Of Youth, Youth Concentrate
I used this serum in the evening and couldn't believe the difference it made. My skin literally seemed 'bouncier' and fuller and just so healthy and young looking. This was a sample I got in a Glossybox and I'm so glad I did as I would never spend £20 on a product I hadn't used but after loving it so much, £20 doesn't seem too bad!
What have you used up recently? If there's anything you've used and loved then please share below so we can all benefit.

Rose Gold Nails

Like most girls these days I am obsessed with rose gold! And I recently saw something to add to my ever growing rose gold collection...Next nail varnish. Next isn't somewhere I would immediately think for make-up/beauty products but when I saw this I could not leave the shop without it and I'll be keeping it in mind for future!

The varnish applies beautifully and was very easy. One layer would've been enough but I always like to double up soI did add a second layer. It's just such a gorgeous shade that on the first day I wore it I got quite a few compliments on it!

The photo's are a week after I had applied and note, not a chip! I had used Revlon Diamond top coat which may have helped but even still, usually after a week there's a few chips here and there but not with this varnish.
This was only £4.00 and I would definitely recommend picking one up for this festive season if you're as in love with rose gold as I am!
