My Favourite Winter Lips Products

In winter most of my make-up stays the same, however, the one thing which changes the most is my lip colour. In summer I definitely opt towards the brighter, sweeter colours but come winter I'm more into the rich, deeper colours.

So far there has been a certain 3 colours which have repeated been seen upon my face and I thought I'd share these with you as I think they're the perfect winter colours.

There is a;
  • dark red- Rimmel's Kate Moss collection in 107 (does anyone not own this?!!)
  • deep pinky/purple- Revlon Colourstay Moisture Stain in 005 Parisian Passion
  • deep pink/berry- Soap & Glory Lipstick in PomPom

All of these are very pigmented and last really well on the lips. There's also such a variation between these three that I think they are the only three which you would need throughout all of winter! They are also all drugstore so are very affordable and easy to get your hands on.

No7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush

When Clinique  released their Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm I instantly wanted one. However, having had problems with cream blushes in the past I was a bit reluctant to spend £19 on something which I may never use. So, after recieving a £3 off No7 make-up voucher I headed to the counter and was VERY happy to see that No7 had releaesd their own version for only £9.

Immediately I loved the packaging and thought it would be perfect for travelling with but I was still a little apprehensive about how it would sit on my skin. All my worries were unnecessary since from the first moment this glided onto my cheek it was love at first swipe!

It blends in beautifully and sits evenly on the skin. It is very pigmented and last all day long on my cheeks which helps you look fresh and awake throughout your whole working day, even if you don't feel it!

I got the shade Watermelon and I think it's the perfect Winter cheek colour! I've literally used it every day since I bought it!

Rimmel's Brow This Way Gel

In the past few years eyebrows have become a vital step in most peoples make-up routine. Therefore, a higher demand for eyebrow products have resulted in both high end and high street brands releasing a number of different brow products.

A recent addition to the eyebrow product line is a gel which comes in the form of a mini mascara type product. The first brand which brought this to my attention was Benefit with 'Gimme Brow'. I was a bit reluctant to spend £17.50 on something I might not like so instead I decided to try Rimmel's version- 'Brow This Way' (only £3.99- Boots).

The idea of a gel product for the brows appeals to me, as my brows can have a mind of their own and by the end of the day they are not sitting how they were at the beginning of the day, so a gel would help keep them in place. In the past I've used powders for colour and then a clear gel to hold in place so one item which does both seems like a win. However, I did not win with this product.

The brush is far to big for the brows. This then results in too much product being distributed which leaves the brows feeling crusty and very uncomfortable. Not only that but it is very hard to only put the product on the actual brows and not around it, making it look like a child has coloured it in and gone way over the lines.

After saying all that, if you spend a good 5 minutes scraping off at least 80% of the product before using it then it works well. There's good pigmentation and the gel aspect does hold the brows in place. I do also find that it lasts longer on the brows compared to just powders.

My verdict?! With a smaller brush this would be great but to save me 5 minutes in the morning I would be more tempted to get the Benefit Gimme Brow.

Recent Discovery- Lush Bathbombs

So Lush has been around for a good few years now but for whatever reason I had never tried out their bathbombs. One of my sisters has been a big fan of theirs since the beginning so I've tried out a couple of face products but only recently stretched as far as a bathbomb and my word...I really wish I'd tried these earlier.

The scents are AMAZING. They are by far the most fragrant bath products I've ever used and smell good enough to eat (I wouldn't recommend that though) and with a wide range of bathbombs available there'll definitely be something for everyone.

Once you've got your head around how good they smell there's also the amazing colour show which you get. The fizz is impressive but what's more impressive is the pigmentation of the colour and the mix of colours which you can get in certain ones. Of course each bathbomb is different so you'd never get bored.

I think the two that I have tried are Fizzbanger (the yellow one) and Space Girl (the purple one- which smells like the Parma Violet sweets!). Both smelt delicious and completely changed the colour of my bath which amused me probably far too much. With the Christmas range currently in stores I would definately recommend heading down to your local store and picking up as many as you can to help you through those coming wintery nights.

Maybelline ColorDrama Lip Pencil

One of Maybelline's latest lip product to hit our shelves is their ColorDrama Lip Pencil and when I saw it on offer in my local Asda I couldn't help myself. I have to admit that I haven't tried out many of Maybelline's lip products so wasn't sure what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised as to how much I LOVE this.

This lip pencil is very pigmented and leaves a semi-matte look on the lips. I find it very easy to apply and it lasts very well throughout the day. Maybelline describe it as an "intense velvet lip pencil" and I very much agree with the intense aspect. It goes on very smoothly and I think with the help of it's 'velvet-ness' it isn't as drying on the lips as other similar lip products which leave a matte affect.

There is 10 shades in the range so there's something for everyone and I would definitely recommend you try them out. And for only £4.99 (Boots) why wouldn't you!? I have the shade Fab Orange which is the most perfect orange/red lip colour and I LOVE it a lot! Can't wait to try more of the colours out!

The Body Shop- Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

Before I started a recent 36 hour journey home, including 4 flights! , I popped into my local Body Shop and asked what would be the most moisturising cream I could take on the plane with me to stop my face from completely drying out and this is what the lovely woman recommended to me.

The little white balls are bubbles of Vitamin E which help give the instant moisture burst

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet. Quite the mouthful to say however, it is nothing but a  pleasure to use. The product is verging on a gel-like consistency but feels extremely light on the skin and has a velvet type feel to it. It sinks into the skin quickly and instantly makes your face feel softer. Somehow it also has some sort of magic in it which means that it feels really cool on the skin (without having to put it in the fridge) which helps it feel amazingly fresh on the skin (especially good for during a flight). It also has a light and fresh scent which adds to the whole refreshing sensation. The packaging is just lovely in a frosted glass jar which gives it a more luxurious feel but did weigh down my hand luggage- however, I was so in love with the product that I really didn't mind!

All in all this is my favourite moisturiser I've ever used and I think it'll be a godsend in summer when your seeking that cool and refreshing feeling. The Body Shop is fast becoming one of my favourite brands for skincare and I cannot wait to try more from their range...next on my list is the 'Drops Of Youth Eye Concentrate' eye roller ball- anyone tried it yet?

Beauty Box

Now I'm a major fan of beauty boxes so when I saw an offer in this months Glamour magazine I could not hold back. For £15.99 (box worth £83.47) you got a 12 month subscription to the iPhone/iPad edition of the magazine AND 'The Glamour Beauty Power List 2014'.

The box contains;

  • Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence Conditioning Spray
  • Nude Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick
  • Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (one of the main reasons I got the box)
  • Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (the other main reason I got this box)
  • Eyeko Mascara Off Eye Makeup Remover Wipes
  • James Read Sleep Mask Tan
  • Bourjois Volume 1 Second Mascara

What a box full! I think beauty boxes are brilliant for trying out new items before buying full sized products and also for discovering new brands/products which you wouldn't have tried otherwise. If you like the look of the contents of this box then I'm afraid this exact box isn't still available but if you head to latestinbeauty.com you will find other box options available and even a pick your own box, which I think is just a genius idea.

Points Haul

Who doesn't love having a look at their Boots/Superdrug card points and noticing that you have a good few saved up!? I blooming love it and today decided to go spend the points which I'd saved. Here's what I managed to pick up;

  • L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara- I've been wanting to get my hands on this mascara since it came out so I was very excited to see L'oreal had 3 for 2 in Superdrug at the moment so this was the first item I picked up
  • L'oreal Nude Magique Eau De Tint Foundation- I used a tested which I got in a magazine of this and LOVED how light it felt on my skin
  • L'oreal Lumi Magique Hightlighting Pen- to complete my 3 for 2 I picked this up to try as my much loved Touch Eclat has run out
  • Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Styling Gel- I've been longing after the Benefit Brow Gel for a good while but wanted to try a cheaper one first to see if it would be a product I would use to step up Rimmel!
  • VO5 Plump It Up- I needed a heat defence and noticed that this one mentioned it adds volume and thickness too! Multi-purpose product, I'm on it!

So that is my mini haul using points...now I just need to save some more! Anyone tried any of these products? Let me know if you want a review on any of my new additions!

Favourite Foundation Brush

Now I'm fairly new to the make-up brush game so I have only got experience with cheap ones from ebay and the beautiful Real Techniques collection. I've bought a few of the Real Techniques brushes individually but recently I got my hands on the 'Core Collection' set and have found my new favourite brush for applying foundation. Introducing the Buffing Brush!

This brush applies foundation lightly and allows you to really buff it into the skin (hence the name!). I have tried a few different brushes for foundation in my time and because I really like my foundation to blend into my skin and look as if it isn't there I have never found a brush which really achieves this...until now. Below are all the face products I've used this brush with and have found brilliant results with them all!

Before I got the Buffing Brush I would use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush which I also really enjoy for applying foundation but I prefer the Buffing Brush now due to the lighter coverage it gives.

Like all brushes in the Real Techniques range you get great quality at a low price and that is why they are my go to whenever I'm in brush need. I would recommend these brushes to anyone, especially those who are starting out with brushes as they are so effortless to use and give great results everytime.

Anyone got any other favourite brushes?

Benefit Posie Tint Lip & Cheek Stain

My love for Benefit is nothing of a secret. From their quirky packaging to amazing products I really can't fault them and their 'Posie Tint' lip and cheek stain is no exception.

I have quite a few of these mini's including another blush colour and 2 highlighters. Although I have always known they're great products it's only recently that I started using Posie Tine on a daily basis and fell in love with it.

On the cheeks it gives the most natural appearance and beautiful flush of colour. Because it's a liquid it gives such a dewy and glowy finish that just gives the whole face a healthy look. I don't use it on the lips as although it feels like a nice lipgloss it just doesn't give much colour but the Bene Tint version does gives more colour for the lips as it's a deeper red.

All in all I love this and think it's the perfect travel partner as it's small in size but big in performance!

M I A

Hey lovelies!

I feel my posts have been lacking recently and I feel like I should address why. I am currently traveling around New Zealand and still have a week to go. It's been a crazy adventure so far which has left me exhausted by the end of every night. I've also managed to pick up a cold (typical!) so haven't been feeling too great either. Put these both together and you have no blogging going on.

I do apologise for this and I have missed doing it but fear not...I have one free day out of my entire time in New Zealand coming up and I'm determined to get one up then so please bare with! Once my travels here are done I'm heading back to Australia and will be traveling around there before heading home. This may mean that posts will continue to be few and far spread for the next couple of months but once I'm home I'll be on it and bombarding you all with posts (not really...maybe just weekly?!)

No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation

Let me introduce you to a special little friend who is known as my favourite drugstore foundation...No7 'Beautifully Matte' foundation. I am a big fan of No7 for both their skincare and make-up and this product did not disappoint.

A couple of years ago they introduced a new skin matching gadget which allowed customers to go in and get shown their perfect foundation. From colour to formula they have such a wide variety that I truly believe there's something for everyone.

I have rather oily skin which can sometimes be a bit combination but my main problem is the shine, so I was looking for a matte foundation and that is exactly what I found. The Beautifully Matte foundation is the most matte foundation I've ever found and is medium to full coverage. I have it in 'Cool Ivory' and the colour is also the best match I've ever found that even sometimes I wonder if I actually put make-up on or whether I'm just having a good skin day (answer is always I put foundation on). I think the thing I like most about this product is that although it is matte and does keep shine at bay it still lets a glow come through which gives such a natural appearance.

I always think No7 gets over looked when it comes to make-up but if you're looking for great quality products which are made to suit your needs then it's definitely worth checking out! It's very reasonably priced and more often than not there's vouchers in Boots giving you money off- bonus!
As you can see I'm close to finishing this product which just shows how much I love it as I'm definitely someone who starts a products but gets distracted by others and constantly switch them up.

If you're thinking about checking out the No7 range then click on the links below for some more reviews;

Daily Make-Up Products

I've been using the same products every day for a while now and have grown fairly fond of quite a few of them. So I thought I would share my favourite daily make-up products.

Listed in order which I would put on my face after moisturising;

  • Primer- this was just the cheapest I could find but my favourites include benefit 15 hour stay flawless (blogged about here) or benefit porefessional/garner blur (blogged about here)
  • Foundation- MAC studio fix fluid in 'NW15'. I love this foundation as I find it lasts all day on my skin and gives a beautiful natural glow without being oily (a miracle for my oil/combination skin)
  • Concealer- Collection concealer in 'Light 2'. Best concealer I've ever used and have never found one to live up to it no matter how much I've spent
  • Powder- MAC mineralise skin finish natural in 'Medium'. This powder gives a light coverage and really helps keep my shine at bay and helps the make-up last longer. Sits on top of the foundation beautifully
  • Bronzer- Benefit 'Hoola' bronzer. A complete shimmer free bronzer which is the best for contouring and adding a natural warmth to the face
  • Blush- Benefit 'Dandelion' blusher. A soft pink which gives a very natural flush of colour to the cheeks. If I'm after a brighter colour then I opt for the Sleek blush palette (blogged about here)
  • Mascara- Benefit They're Real' mascara (blogged about here). Not my favourite at first but once it's dried slightly it's perfect for adding length and separating the lashes thanks to the ball at the end of the wand
  • Eyebrows- No7 beautiful eyebrow pencil (don't know the shade but it's a brown one!?). What I love about this one if at on one end there's a brush to first neaten the brows (I get terrible bed-brow-hair) and the pencil fills in my brow's gap when used very gently in short strokes
  • Inner eye highlighter- Essence eyeshadow in '01 chill out'. Again this was the cheapest white shadow I could find. It's too shimmery for my eyebrow highlight but works a treat at opening up my eyes when put in the inner corner of my eyes
To apply the foundation and powder I use the Real Techniques brushes. For the foundation I apply it with the 'Expert Face Brush', the powder and bronzer with the 'Powder Brush', the blusher with the 'Blush Brush', for my concealer under my eyes I use the 'setting brush' and for the eyeshadow in the inner eye I use the 'Shading Brush'. (They're not pictured as they're embaressingly dirty!)

What's your favourite daily product?
