Empties #11

It's been a couple of months since my last empties post and my can you tell! My box of used products is the most full it's ever been so to save some time I will link below other posts for the products which have been around these parts before and will give more detail of the products which are new to me.

Starting with what I've used before...

  • Garnier Body Intensive Ultra-Replenishing Lotion - here
  • Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo (there was actually two of these!) - here
  • The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil - here
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum - here
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil - here
  • Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer - here
  • Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil - here
  • Re-Gen Cream - here
  • No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Toner - here
  • Soap & Glory Flake Away Exfolliator - here

And now for the new products...

  • Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish - I really liked this product. It added texture and volume to my hair without leaving a greasy residue or weighing it down
  • Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray - again I loved this. I put it through my hair while wet and dried as normal to find it helped thicken my hair without making it feel like there was a lot of product in it
  • Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask - I really enjoyed using this. It was the first face mask I've used which heats up and the first time I used it I did panic slightly by the warmth but once I was used to it I really enjoyed using this. I also enjoy how quick it is to use. Many face masks have to stay on for 10mins or so but after just 5 this has worked its magic
  • Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant - I really like this product, who doesn't!? It's been the best product for dry lips I've used but recently I found a great dupe with a smaller price tag (you can read that product here)
  • Soap & Glory Orangeasm Body Wash - this bad boy has lasted me ages! And smells incredible...soap & glory can do no wrong with the toiletries
  • Garnier Moisutre Radiance Dairy Energising Gel Moisturiser - another win for the new products. I really like the cooling effect of this moisturiser and the fact it was a gel. It really helped to waken my skin up first thing in the morning and soaked in beautifully
  • The Body Shop Body Butter in 'Coconut' and 'Shea Butter' - these smell amazing, melt into the skin effortlessly and leave skin smooth as ever! I love them!
  • Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Concealer - I used this years ago and after seeing it on youtube so much I just had to buy it again and it was every bit of great as I remember. I'm not a massive fan of the applicator at the end but it does the job (not in the most hygienic way) but the product itself is great at brightening up the under eye without creasing at all throughout the day
Yeah...I did warn you there was a lot of empties! So well done for making it to the end. Let me know if you've also used up any of these products and what you thought of them.

Now I know I'm a bit ahead of myself here, as in Scotland it's still pretty chilly, but I'd received some discount codes into my e-mail account and the temptation was just too much. So I clicked onto New Look and Dorothy Perkins websites and managed to pick up a couple of goodies.

  • Sunglasses - New Look
  • Dalmatian Print Blouse - H & M

  • Navy Wool Jacket - Dorothy Perkins
  • Blue Knitted Jumper - Dorothy Perkins

I absolutely love everything I got and the fact that they can all pair together so well to create so many different outfit choices.

I'd love to hear what your favourite piece/outfit is so feel free to let me know in the comments below.

Real Techniques Brush Cleanser

I think the one thing which all beauty junkies will agree on is how much of a pain cleaning make-up brushes is. I've already done a post on my favourite product to use, which you can find here , and although the post is now a couple of years old it has still been how I clean my brushes...until last week!

I saw this on offer in Boots and being a Real Techniques fan (they're the only brushes I currently use!) I thought I would try out their Deep Cleansing Gel.

The first thing to note when using this is that a little goes a long way. It lathers beautifully meaning less is more. It is such  an effective cleanser and rarely did I have to clean the brushes through twice, which I would have to with my old product. Not only did the gel clean the brushes effortlessly but made them the whitest/cleanest they've been since I got them and also just as soft.

I really cannot recommend this enough. I feel everything is spot on and although slightly more expensive than what I use to use, I think it's still very affordable and definitely worth it for the amazing job which it does.

Soap & Glory Brow Putty

So we've all had brow pencils, brow crayons, brow shadows, brow gels but now...there's brow putty!

I was recently having a look through the Soap & Glory stand when something new caught my eye, the Soap & Gory Archery Brow Putty. I've used their Brow Archery pencil and LOVE it so when I saw a new product for the brows I just had to try it.

Since the first time I tried this, I haven't actually used anything else, it immediately became my number one go to. The overall design is genius, brush in the top and putty in the bottom, making it the perfect travel go to. Not only is the design brilliant but the product itself does not disappoint. Pigmented without being over the top and because it's a putty rather that just a pencil or shadow it holds your brows in place all day too, therefore cancelling out the need to brow gel onto. This really helps give a more natural appearance. From what I could see it only came in two shades (but the stand I was at was small so there may be more shades available) and I got the darker one - 'Brownie Points'. The is the closest brow shade I've ever used and would say it's pretty much spot on to my brows.

This product is definately one for those who want to thicken and define their brows while still keeping a natural appearance. So if they have a shade that suits you, then snap it up quick!

They are available from Soap & Glory stands for £10.

Make-up Haul #6

I entered Superdrug today needing to pick up a new blush and a serum but somehow walked out with all of this...whoops!

  • Nip + Fab Dragons Blood Plumping Serum - both the Nip + Fab products were half price so I'm very excited to try them out
  • Nip + Fab Dark Circle Fix
  • L'oreal Infallible Fixing Mist - my make-up has just been disappearing recently so hopefully this will help it last throughout the day
  • L'oreal Le Blush in '105 Rose Pastel'
  • L'oreal Infallible Matte Max - this is new from L'oreal and I'm very intrigued. I'm sure a post will be coming soon
  • L'oreal Elnett Hairspray
  • YSL Touche Eclat - this one wasn't from Superdrug today but I actually had a voucher for Feel Unique so thought it would be the perfect time to buy it

I am now banning myself from all shops that sell beauty products for at least a month!!

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Skin Protectant Dupe

For the past few years I have found Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Skin Protectant the best product for dry lips ever! I'm sure you will have all heard of it before and seen many bloggers rant and rave about it and I would agree that it is an amazing product...but the price puts me off a bit. It is £26 for 50ml which may sound crazy but these tubes do last for ages! So I would still buy the product but when I picked up a similar one during my travels in Australia I was delighted to find it was a perfect dupe for the Elizabeth Arden version.

Lucas Papaw Ointment is very similar in texture to the Elizabeth Arden but I find it slightly thinner, which I actually prefer. Other than the colour and the texture there is no difference between the two and impressively there is no difference between the affect they have on the lips- they really can transform dry lips overnight into healthy-looking lips.

For less than half the price I will choose the Papaw every time but even if price wasn't such a difference I would still choose the Papaw down to the thinner texture and therefore more comfortable feel on the lips.

Anyone else think they could replace the much loved Elizabeth Arden with a different lip product?
